Firestarter Cosmetics review

Hi!! So today I have something different than my usual nail posts, I have cosmetics! Firestarter Cosmetics is a Canadian based company. Owners Laura and Amanda opened up shop in the winter of 2011 and create products that are vegan and free of chemicals and dyes! I was sent a lip balm, lip scrub, clay mask, and eyeshadow to review.

So the first thing I used was the clay mask. Ingredients are French Green clay powder, Bentonite clay powder and oatmeal. It came with thorough instructions (which I loved, by the way).
Have you guys seen the movie Mrs. Doubtfire? Lol, if you have, you might remember a scene where Robin Williams throws his face into a cake to create a mask. That's how I felt lol!!

So once the mask dried, I rinsed it off. I did this yesterday morning and my face still feels amazing! My skin feels soft and clean. This is a great product and it was fun to mix up and wear! :p

I then tried the lip scrub in green apple flavour. The ingredients are coconut oil, vegan sugar, flavour oil, and avocado oil.

    Without flash
    With flash.

Look at the sugar crystals! Yum! I applied it to my lips using a circular motion.

It smells so good! After rinsing off, my lips felt awesome. With it being winter time, this is a great product to use if you have chapped, dry lips. My daughter even used it! It works great. Instructions said to apply a lip balm after so I threw on the one that was sent to me!

Ingredients for the Kahlua lip balm are candelilla wax, stevia, coconut, sunflower, grapeseed, avocado, flavour, and apricot kernel oil. At first I was a bit skeptical as to how good this product would be because it felt really hard at first. But, after working it in, it glided on and stayed on my lips for just under an hour! And it smells good which always makes everything better.

So these are my lips after using the lip scrub and applying the Kahlua lip balm.

Lastly is the eyeshadow called Misfit. I usually don't wear bright colour shadows so this was a good one for me!

Ingredients are plant derived magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, iron oxide and tin oxide.
I applied some to my inner arm and seen that it had a nice shimmer to it.

    With flash.

    Indoors without flash.

I applied Misfit and some white/silver eyeshadow to my lash line. It went on very smooth and lasted the whole day!

Here I am after using all the products sent to me. This is a really great company with amazing products! And super super affordable!

Polish Me Silly Thermals!

Hey everyone! I've been wanting a thermal polish so badly for the longest time. Like lusting over them lol. Luckily for me, I just got my first ones! I got three from Polish Me Silly (formerly Lush Lacquer).

First is "Grape Intentions"

    Natural light.

This is a jelly polish with a fun assortment of purple, pink, and silver glitter. It's purple when room temperature/hot.

    Natural light.

When cold, it's a gorgeous pink!

And here's a transition shot!

Next is "I'm Bananas 4 U"

    Natural light.

I love this! My fave thermal! When cold, it's green and yellow when warm. It has green and yellow hexes, micro gold, and yellow dot glitter!

Last is "Peach Me A Lesson"

    Natural light.

This one is cute and girly, so awesome! So this thermal polish is light pink when warm/hot and a peachy pink colour when cold. It has various various pinks and sized glitter.

I didn't have to fish for any glitter, application was so smooth and perfect. I highly recomend these! All photos are three coats of polish. If you're interested in buying from this indie company, you can find them on Instagram @polishmesilly2 and their website is polishmesilly.etsy.com.

Sally Hansen Triple Shine

Hello everyone! I recently received some Sally Hansen Triple Shine polishes in a nail mail swap. I was super happy to have got them because I previously hadn't tried them before. Anyway here they are!

This is "Drama Sheen"

    Natural light.

This is an unexpected fave for me. I can't stress enough how absolutely perfect and feminine this polish is. It's a sheer purple with iridescent shimmer. I used 2 coats.

Here's "Fanta-Sea"

    Natural light

Fanta-Sea is blue/silver glitter in a clear base. I layers it over Fingerpaints "Tiffany Imposter".

Next is "Slick Black"

    Natural light.

This is a black base with a silver shimmer, I used 2 coats and it dried really fast!

Last but not least is "Pearly Whites"

    Natural light

This is a flakie glitter topper in a clear base. I layered a thin layer over OPI "Black Onyx". These flakies are really thin and easy to manage!

My first Julep polishes!

Hey everyone! While I was doing some Boxing Day shopping, I stopped in at Sephora for the first time. I soon discovered they sell Julep polishes!!! I had to grab me some of my firsts!!

This is "Bette"

    Natural light

This is 3 coats no topcoat. It dries to a semi matte finish. I'm excited to do a jelly sandwich with this one!

This is "Madison"

    Natural light

This is 3 coats, no topcoat. Also another jelly. The only thing I didn't like about this one is that it made my nails look yellow underneath.
Application for both was good except that on Bette's first coat, it was a little streaky. Dry time was awesome.
These retail for $16 CAD.

Revlon Parfumerie

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday! Today I have 2 polishes from Revlon's new Parfumerie collection.

Here's "Powder Puff".

    Natural light.

This is a sheer pink with a fine shimmer running through it. Application, formula, and dry time was good. It smells like baby powder!! The scent wasn't overwhelming and lasted until I took it off. I showered, bathed my daughter, did dishes, washed my hands, etc and the scent stayed!!

This is "Autumn Spice".

    Natural light.

A beautiful dark brown with gold shimmer. It smells like cinnamon :) Everything thing from formula to the longevity of the scent is the same as Powder Puff.

I got these from Walmart for $5.97 CAD.

Candy Nail Polish

Hi there! Who's excited for Christmas!?! Clearly I am lol! I had the honour of being able to swatch for a new Canadian Indie polish company called Candy Nail. The owner Kim opened shop October 31 and creates great polishes that are 3-free and cruelty free!!
I was sent 3 samples to swatch from her Holiday Collection! They ALL had amazing formulas that applied like butter and fantastic dry times!

**These polishes were sent to me from Candy Nail to swatch and review**

This is "Hot Cacao"

    Natural light.

    Natural light.

This is a perfect milk chocolate brown with a gorgeous shimmer running through it. I used 3 coats and no top coat for the photos above.

Here's "Mint Tea"

    Natural light

    Natural light.

This here is a green jelly with gold glitter which is totally festive! I must say I'm not too fond of greens and I probably own about 2 green nail polishes. However, I love this one!! Especially when my boyfriend complimented me saying how nice it looked. :p it's darker in real life though. It was hard for me to capture the true colour it has. I used 3 coats with no top coat for the photos above.

Lastly is "Cranberry Cider"

    Natural light

    Natural light.

Red+jelly+glitter=WIN!!! I can't even express how much I love this! This is a red jelly with assorted sized red, black, and silver holo glitters! The name is so perfect for it as well. This is 3 coats with a top coat of Seche Vite.

Polish Addict Nail Color

Hey guys! I recently received 5 Polish Addict Nail Color polishes from a friend. They're soo beautiful! It was actually a Mystery Box and it came with 4 polishes, plus my August birthday polish, cuticle oil, spectraflair topcoat, and a bunch of other nail goodies!

First up is "Pool Party"
    Natural light

This is a super sparkly, multi-coloured glitter topper in a clear base. It's fantastic! This 2 thin coats over Essence's "Break Through".

Here's "Anna".
    Natural light.

This is a pretty, frosty pink polish with scattered holo!
    With flash.

Ooooh!!!! So girly! I love it! I used 2 coats for the photos.

This is the August birthday polish

    Artificial light.

This is a blue/grey base with fun glitters in different colours and shapes! It's like confetti!! I'm just so happy that I was able to get this! Laura and co owner Crystal make special birthday polishes for people who order the Mystery Box. For example, this month would be a secret December polish for people with December birthdays! How cool is that?!!

Up next is "Beauty & The Beach"

    Natural light

Oooh! A light green base with assorted sizes and shapes of funky coloured glitter! I actually didn't think I was going to like this, but after I put it on I didn't want to take it off! Lol! One of my fave PANC I own. It even glows in the dark!

My phone camera couldn't pick up the glow as well as it actually is!  I used 3 coats for these photos.

This is "Island Girl"

    Natural light

This was another polish I didn't think I would like. Wrong! I love it! It's a pinkish/nudish base with purple, grey, pink and gold glitters. The name definitely suits this one. This is 2 coats.
